ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sylvia Savala is a native of Fresno, California and is a mother of two. She was interested in art at a very young age but was directed into the business field. This was done by providing her with a typewriter at the age of ten and told she would make a "great secretary".

The Artist attended Fresno City College and obtained an Associate of Arts Degree in business. She also attended CSU Fresno and obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish.

Ms. Savala's interest in art resumed in her mid-twenties fueled by courage and a true-grit attitude to pursue her dream of becoming an artist in her own right.

The inspiration for some of her recent work has come about from her travels to Hawaii, New York and Italy. She studied printmaking in Mexico City.

She is presently working on completing her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art. Th artist is a member and serves on the board of the Printmakers Guild in Fresno, California.
